MEET YOUR COACHES
I’m a Master Level Certified Pickleball Teaching Professional with nearly a decade of experience transforming players just like you into tournament-ready competitors—especially players in your 50s, 60s, 70s, and beyond.
I’ve dedicated my career to one mission: helping passionate pickleball players unlock their true potential through smart, strategic play.
I don’t believe in cookie-cutter coaching or pushing your body beyond its limits. I’ve helped hundreds of players go from complete beginners to advanced level in just weeks by focusing on smart play over power and respecting your body’s needs.
My teaching philosophy is built on my proven 5-Skill Mastery System: An aggressive serve, an aggressive return, quick and controlled paddle work, precise dinking, and mastering the drop volley—the most important shot in pickleball.
Won 4 out of 7 National Tour level tournaments at Men's 4.5 level (50+)
Ranked Top 200 worldwide in doubles and Top 300 in singles by the ATP
50+ years of coaching experience across tennis and pickleball
Medaled at APP, PPA, and USA Pickleball tournaments
Competed at Wimbledon, US Open, and French Open multiple times
But here’s what I’m most proud of: I’ve coached 4 players from their very first pickleball shot all the way to National Titles.
Whether you want to improve your fitness, develop your skills, compete in tournaments, improve your DUPR, or simply have more fun on the court—I’ll help you play with confidence and consistency while preventing injuries.
Players who train with me experience complete game transformations. They win through intelligent positioning and shot selection, not exhausting power. They play multiple times a week with energy. They build lasting friendships while leveling up their game.
My reputation? “The Human Ball Machine.” National Champions attend my classes because I can drill at any pace with precision that rivals actual ball machines—from controlled beginner pace to rocket-fast for advanced players.
Here’s a video of me teaching how to serve properly and effectively.
MEET YOUR COACHES
At 71, I’m the oldest competitor in my division—and I’m still winning championships around the world.
What I bring to your game:
My journey? I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area as one of the nation’s top junior tennis players. After retiring from tennis at 22, I built a career as a Trauma ICU Nurse and worked at two Summer Olympics (1996 and 2000) and with the U.S. Ski Team at the 2002 Winter Olympics. I traveled around the world for 2 years when I was 30, working numerous jobs, playing tennis, and making friends wherever I landed.
Five years ago, I discovered pickleball and quickly made my mark. At 71, I continue to inspire with my passion, grit, and success on the court—proving that age is just a number when you have the right technique, strategy, and mindset.
Mark Wagner (Coach Wags) brings the 5-Skill Mastery System—the exact skills that separate good players from great ones: aggressive serve, aggressive return, quick paddle work, precise dinking, and the drop volley.
Coach Bee brings infectious enthusiasm, community-building expertise, and a teaching style that helps every player feel confident and capable.
But here’s what we’re MOST excited about: The drilling. Lots and lots of drilling.
Not boring, repetitive drilling—but the kind of high-quality, focused drilling that Coach Wags is famous for. The kind where you hit 40-50 balls in rapid succession and feel yourself improving in real-time. The kind that National Champions seek out because it works.
We don’t waste time talking. We drill. You improve. You feel it immediately.
On April 4th, we’re bringing this combined expertise to just 16 lucky players in Oakland.
Schedule
Introduction and Warm Up
All campers gathered for introductions of your new coaches.
“Dink Wars” warm-up game—competitive points in the kitchen to sharpen touch.
• Flat, low-aggressive serve
• Slice serve with movement
• Topspin serve for depth
• Principles: In, low or deep, and toward the non-dominant side.
Getting to net in one shot with proper balance and paddle positioning.
Learn to serve mostly back to the middle at about 75% of their hardest stroke, forehand or backhand. Plus how to move thru the return toward the net each time to learn the footwork. Every missed return is a “Free” point to the servers.
Returners have a hugh advantage getting to net first, your primary goal is to hit an aggressive return low or deep and get to net first. This allows the returners to hit down for 2-3 shots and servers to have to hit up for 2-3 shots.
The primary goal of a Third Shot Drop or a reset shot is anytime you are back is to give you and your partner time to get back up to the net on even ground.
Third Shot Drop fundamentals with target practice. Use tubes for targets in the kitchen.
Understanding when to drop vs. when to drive.
Campers serve, coach returns back to them and they hit the “third shot” back into the kitchen.
BREAK (10 minutes)
This is an Advanced Volley Technique used by every top player on tour.
Lean forward and catch the high volley or pop up at the top of its arch. Hit over the top of the ball. Dunk it at their feet.
Use the kitchen line as their target or put a tube on the kitchen line.
Drill 40-50 balls each on forehand, rotate and then backhand.
Learn to put away high balls with confidence.
Its not how hard you hit this ball, its where you hit it.(feet)(feet)(feet)
We will feed an underhand ball to your knees and ask them to softly hit it back into the kitchen.
Half-volley control back into the kitchen. Dink Drill.
Low to high sequences.
Feed a dink, then kill shot, dink then kill shot.
( Repeat several times )
Crossing drill that prevents “cement feet”.
Feed a ball to their forehand, then middle of the court, then far end of the court. Have them shuffle across. If you make all three volley’s, we feed you a fourth high “Bonus shot”. If you miss one of the first three, no bonus shot.
Once everyone has done forehand, do the opposite side of the court and do crossing backhands.
We will escalate this drill to 4-5 balls forehand and 4-5 ball back cross court with back hand.
(1) Diagonal dink war.
Baby Bird Touch Drill.
Right side, left side soft dink shots.
Teach them 99 out of 100 balls you simply Dink their Dinks back to the opponents feet and wait for a better opportunity to win the point.
Coach fires 40-50 aggressive balls at net players.
Customized speed based on skill level.
Practice your new volley technique under match-like pressure.
Build reaction speed and confidence.
We will use a mix of fast low shots, higher kills shots, reset shots, wide and right based on your skill level.
This drill is meant to be “uncomfortable”, but very fun. You will love it.
One or two students at net and coach feeds from the baseline.
Campers should relax and simply hit the best volley they can each time and be ready again right away after each shot, hit or miss.
*** This will likely be your favorite drill of the day and a great way to end our camp.
Rotational Drills & Game Play (Final 2 Hours)
During the final two hours of the camp, players will be divided into two groups. One group will focus on drilling on one or two courts while the other group will play a game.
Once the game concludes, the groups will switch — the players who were drilling will move to game play, and the players who were playing will return to the courts for drills.
This rotation system keeps everyone active, engaged, and constantly learning while ensuring plenty of live play opportunities.
Throughout the camp, we will focus on developing five essential skills that dramatically improve overall performance on the court:
• Aggressive Serve – Learning how to start the point with intention and pressure.
• Aggressive Return – Developing returns that allow you to take control of the rally early.
• Controlled Power (75% Shots) – Hitting with controlled pace, primarily down the middle, with the goal of reaching the net in one shot.
• Dinking Your Dinks – Improving consistency, patience, and precision in the non-volley zone.
• Paddle Work & Grips – Better paddle positioning and grip techniques for improved control and reaction time.
• Drop Shots & Soft Volleys – Learning how to neutralize fast rallies and transition effectively to the kitchen.
By the end of the session, you will have stronger fundamentals, better court awareness, and greater confidence in your game.
Our goal is simple: you leave as a noticeably better player. Guaranteed.
Most camps spend too much time talking and not enough time doing.
We’re the opposite.
Here’s our philosophy: Drilling = Transformation
You don’t get better by listening to lectures about the third shot drop. You get better by hitting 20-30 third shot drops in a row while a coach watches and corrects you.
And here’s the truth about why we’re obsessed with drilling:
Because let’s be honest—we all love that moment when we implement something new and it actually WORKS, don’t we?
That moment when you adjust your paddle angle and suddenly your third shot lands exactly where you want it.
That rush when you hit 10 serves in a row to the same spot.
That feeling when your opponent fires a fast ball at you and you put it away cleanly.
You don’t have to wait weeks to see if the coaching worked. You see it immediately. Right there on the court.
See why 98% of our campers recommend this camp.
Yeah. I’m Gene Justman out of, Denver, Colorado, and, good nuts and bolts program on, playing pickleball. I learned to get low.
I learned to hit the ball long and towards the back line. Great program.
– Gene Justman
Hi, I’m Debbie from Oklahoma. I really enjoyed today’s drill. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it exceeded my expectations. I got plenty of reps, learned many new aspects of the game, and added to my toolbox. It was a great experience.
– Debbie
Hi, I’m Linda. I’m from Iowa. I joined the camp today. It was great to touch on all different aspects. We’re able to drill enough that we got good at all the different aspects. So I’m ready to hit the courts.
– Linda
A super helpful tip today thatI know I can apply immediatelyand some really great drills that my wife, who’s my playing partner, and I can can put to use this week as well. It was a great clinic.
– Camp Attendee
Hi. I just finished an Obsessed
Pickleballers clinic, and I would
recommend it to anyone who wants to get better. Mark has a great way of explaining things, and he teaches in a way that anyone can get better in the four hour session.
– Camp Attendee
You know that moment when you replay the match in your head…
…thinking about all the shots you should have made?
…watching players you know you should beat walk away with the win?
…feeling that gap between the player you are and the player you know you could be?
That ends on April 4th.
Because by the time you walk off the court at noon, something fundamental will have changed. Your body will respond differently. Your mind will read the game differently. And the next time you play, your regular partners will immediately notice something has shifted.
You walk onto your local court for your regular morning game.
As soon as you start warming up, your playing partners stop and stare.
“What happened to you?”
Your serves are landing deep and consistent—no more shanks, no more pop-ups. When they return, you’re already reading where the ball is going. Your third shot drop is pulling them out of position. At the kitchen line, you’re controlling rallies with patience and precision they’ve never seen from you before.
By the third game, they’re asking what you did. By the fifth game, they’re asking where you learned it. By the time you leave, they’re asking if you can teach them.
That’s the difference between who you are right now and who you’ll be after the camp.
And it all starts the moment you register—because the transformation begins before you even arrive.
We will teach you how to control rallies through intelligent positioning and shot selection—not power. You’ll start winning more points while using less energy.
Soon after camp, your opponents will work twice as hard for half the results. While they’re gasping for air, you’ll be fresh and ready for the next point.
This is especially important for us 50+ players: You’ll learn to play smarter, not harder, which means you can play multiple times a week without wearing yourself out or risking injury.
We will connect you with 15-20 other passionate 50+ players at your exact skill level. You’ll exchange numbers, join the Obsessed Pickleballers Community together, and have permanent contact with everyone you meet.
Nobody gets left behind. Whether you’re naturally social or more reserved, local or visiting, you’ll be welcomed and connected with the entire group through the community platform.
Then, after camp, the group chat starts buzzing with game invitations and practice sessions. By next month, you’ll have a regular crew of players who understand your goals, your schedule, and your commitment to improvement. No more showing up alone, hoping to find a good match.
We will eliminate the hesitation that’s been costing you points. Should you drive or drop? Your body knows. When do you move to the kitchen? You’re already moving. How do you handle the lob? You’re executing before you finish thinking about it.
Then, when you’re playing matches next week, your opponents will watch you differently. They’ll see someone who plays with confidence and certainty—someone who’s always one step ahead.
We will help you identify the 2-3 technical flaws that are currently holding you back. When we show you exactly how to fix them, the shots that used to frustrate you suddenly become your strengths.
Most players spend years fighting the same weaknesses. You’ll correct yours in a single morning.
The forehand that used to sail long?
Landing deep with topspin. The backhand you used to avoid? Now your go-to shot. The serves that made you nervous?
Setting up points in your favor.
We will show you how good you can actually be. You’ll leave buzzing with excitement, already planning your next practice session.
Remember when you first fell in love with pickleball? When you couldn’t wait to play? If that feeling has been fading lately…
On April 4th, it comes roaring back.
Because when you experience what it feels like to play at your true potential, when you finally break through that plateau—that’s when the obsession returns.

You’re past the beginner phase. You understand the game. You win matches.
But you know there’s another level waiting for you.
You can feel it when you’re on court – those moments when everything clicks. When your dink placement is perfect. When you anticipate your opponent’s move before they make it. When you dominate the kitchen line.
Imagine playing at that level consistently.
That’s exactly what happens when you train with us at the Bay Area Obsessed Pickleballers Camp.
On April 4th, you’re going to experience 4 hours that will completely transform how you see the game – and how you play it.
Elite-Level Training Designed Specifically For 3.0-3.5 Players
This isn’t a general clinic where beginners and advanced players are mixed together. Every single drill, every strategy lesson, every piece of coaching is designed specifically for YOUR level.
You’re at the stage where small adjustments create massive improvements. We know exactly which adjustments will take your game from “pretty good” to “wow, you’ve gotten so much better!”
My Proven 4-Phase Transformation System
This isn’t random drills thrown together. We have developed a systematic approach that takes 3.0-3.5 players and transforms their game in just 4 hours.
Ongoing Support Beyond The Camp
The camp is just the beginning. You’ll get lifetime access to our Obsessed Pickleballers community (normally $30/month) with weekly virtual sessions, ongoing coaching, and a network of passionate players.
This isn’t a one-day event – it’s the start of your transformation journey.
This camp is specifically designed for 3.0-3.5 DUPR players. The drills, strategy lessons, and coaching are all calibrated for this level. If you’re unsure of your rating, check mydupr.com or contact us – we’re happy to help!
Absolutely! The camp is designed to challenge you while meeting you where you are. Mark and Bee are experts at scaling coaching to each player’s level within the 3.0-3.5 range.
Just bring your paddle, court shoes, athletic wear, sunscreen, water, some snacks, and a towel.
Definitely, you’ll get plenty of personalized feedback and individual attention throughout the day.
You’ll receive immediate access to the eBook, audiobook, and community membership as soon as you register – so you can start improving right away!
Most camps spend 60-70% of the time talking, 30-40% drilling.
We flip that: 20-30% instruction, 60-70% drilling with instruction
Here’s our philosophy: You don’t get better by listening. You get better by doing.
If you love drilling (and you should—it’s how you improve), you’ll love this camp.
We understand that life happens, and we always aim to be as fair and flexible as possible.
