MEET YOUR COACHES

MEETCoach James - Your Guide To The Next Level

I’m an IPTPA Level I Certified Coach and Marine Corps Veteran who brings discipline, focus, and a genuine commitment to excellence to every session. With 5 years of coaching experience and 15+ years of corporate training expertise, I’ve helped countless players break through plateaus and reach their true potential, especially players in their 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, and beyond.

What I bring to your game:

  • IPTPA Level I Certified Coach – trained in proven, structured methods
  • 5 years of pickleball experience, 5 years of coaching
  • 15+ years of corporate training experience – expert communicator and motivator
  • Marine Corps Veteran – bringing discipline, focus, and commitment to excellence
  • 4.0 DUPR player
  • Tournament racquetball competitor – unique perspective on footwork, court positioning, competitive mindset
  • Teaching 4 days a week – currently coaching beginner and intermediate players
  • Has done camps before – proven track record

My story? I found pickleball in 2019 while recovering from ankle surgery. My wife, Jennifer, and I picked up paddles together, and the sport quickly became a shared passion. Coming from tournament-level racquetball, I was immediately drawn to the strategy, athleticism, and, most importantly, the community that pickleball offered. Before long, we were traveling to tournaments across Kansas City, Springfield, and Branson, building friendships and deepening our love for the game.

I began coaching in 2020 because I wanted to give back to the sport that gave so much to Jennifer and me. Pickleball provided us with a supportive community during a critical period, and coaching is my way of paying that forward, helping others find confidence, connection, and joy on the court.

My approach: My coaching blends technical fundamentals with strategic awareness and mental toughness. I believe in meeting players where they are, building confidence, and helping them progress with purpose. With my 15+ years of corporate training experience, I know how to teach, motivate, and communicate in ways that help players truly understand and grow.

One of my greatest joys as a coach is watching students surpass me and move on to higher levels of play. Their success is the real measure of my work.

Here's what makes my approach unstoppable:

I bring IPTPA certification combined with training expertise and a unique racquetball background that gives me deep insight into footwork, court positioning, and competitive mindset. I don’t just teach pickleball, I bring Marine Corps-level discipline, focus and proven training methods that help intermediate players break through to the next level.

But here’s what I’m MOST excited about: The drilling. Lots and lots of drilling.

Not boring, repetitive drilling… but structured, purpose-driven drilling that builds real, transferable skills. The kind where you hit a bunch of balls focusing on strategy, footwork, and smart shot selection. The kind that builds both technical excellence and mental toughness.

I meet you where you are. We drill with clear structure. You progress with purpose. You feel it immediately.

On 2nd May, I’m bringing this proven approach and Marine Corps commitment to excellence to just a few lucky players in Kansas City.

Why We Are Obsessed With Drilling (And Why You Will Be Too)

Most camps spend too much time talking and not enough time doing.

I’m the opposite.

Here’s my philosophy: Drilling = Transformation

You don’t get better by listening to lectures about the third shot drop. You get better by hitting third shot drops repeatedly while a coach with IPTPA certification and 15+ years of training experience watches and corrects you.

And here’s the truth about why I’m obsessed with drilling:

We all love that moment when we implement something new and it actually works, but how do you ensure it remains working? You drill. Again and again. Building not only discipline but consistency.

That moment when you adjust your paddle angle and suddenly your third shot lands exactly where you want it.

That rush when you hit 10 serves in a row to the same spot.

That feeling when your opponent fires a fast ball at you and you put it away cleanly.

You don’t have to wait weeks to see if the coaching worked. You see it immediately. Right there on the court.

That’s why drilling is the heartbeat of my camps. Not because I think it’s good for you (though it is), but because it’s incredibly satisfying to watch yourself improve in real-time.

As a Marine Corps Veteran, I bring discipline and structure to every drill. We practice with purpose. You progress with confidence.

Player Stories

See why 98% of our campers recommend this camp.

Yeah. I’m Gene Justman out of, Denver, Colorado, and, good nuts and bolts program on, playing pickleball. I learned to get low.

I learned to hit the ball long and towards the back line. Great program.

– Gene Justman

Hi, I’m Debbie from Oklahoma. I really enjoyed today’s drill. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it exceeded my expectations. I got plenty of reps, learned many new aspects of the game, and added to my toolbox. It was a great experience.

– Debbie

Hi, I’m Linda. I’m from Iowa. I joined the camp today. It was great to touch on all different aspects. We’re able to drill enough that we got good at all the different aspects. So I’m ready to hit the courts.

– Linda

A super helpful tip today thatI know I can apply immediatelyand some really great drills that my wife, who’s my playing partner, and I can can put to use this week as well. It was a great clinic.

– Camp Attendee

Hi. I just finished an Obsessed
Pickleballers clinic, and I would
recommend it to anyone who wants to get better. Mark has a great way of explaining things, and he teaches in a way that anyone can get better in the four hour session.

– Camp Attendee

Remember The Last Time You Walked Off The
Court Frustrated?

You know that moment when you replay the match in your head…

…thinking about all the shots you should have made?

…watching players you know you should beat walk away with the win?

…feeling that gap between the player you are and the player you know you could be?

That ends on 2nd May.

Because by the time you walk off the court at 4:00PM, something fundamental will have changed. Your body will respond differently. Your mind will read the game differently. And the next time you play, your regular partners will immediately notice something has shifted.

IMAGINE THIS: It's Tuesday, May 5th (Three Days After Camp)

You walk onto your local court for your regular morning game.

As soon as you start warming up, your playing partners stop and stare.

“What happened to you?”

Your serves are landing deep and aggressive… no more shanks, no more pop-ups. When they return, you’re already reading where the ball is going. Your third shot drop is pulling them out of position. At the kitchen line, you’re controlling rallies with patience and precision they’ve never seen from you before.

By the third game, they’re asking what you did. By the fifth game, they’re asking where you learned it. By the time you leave, they’re asking if you can teach them.

That’s the difference between who you are right now and who you’ll be after the camp.

And it all starts the moment you register… because the transformation begins before you even arrive.

What You'll Actually Walk Away With (The Real Outcomes)

You'll Dominate Points Without Exhausting Yourself

I’ll teach you how to control rallies through intelligent positioning and smart shot selection, not just power. You’ll start winning more points while using less energy.

Soon after camp, your opponents will be working twice as hard for half the results. While they’re gasping for air, you’ll stay fresh, composed, and ready for the next point.

This is especially important for us 40+ players. We focus on helping you play smarter, not harder… so you can play multiple times a week without burning out or risking injury.

You'll Meet Your New Playing Crew (And Stay Connected For Life)

I’ll connect you with other passionate players at your exact skill level. You’ll exchange numbers, join the Obsessed Pickleballers Community together, and stay permanently connected with everyone you meet.

No one gets left behind. Whether you’re naturally social or more reserved, local or visiting, you’ll be welcomed and seamlessly connected with the entire group through our community platform.

After camp, the group chat starts buzzing with game invites and practice sessions. By next month, you’ll have a regular crew of players who understand your goals, your schedule, and your commitment to improvement, no more showing up alone, hoping to find a good match.

You'll Know Exactly What To Do in Every Situation

I’ll eliminate the hesitation that’s been costing you points. Drive or drop? Your body already knows. When to move to the kitchen? You’re already moving. How to handle the lob? You’re executing before you finish thinking about it.

When you step into matches the following week, your opponents will see the difference. They’ll see a player who moves with confidence and certainty… someone who’s always one step ahead.

You'll Stop Making the Same Mistakes That Have Been Holding You Back

I’ll help you identify the technical flaws that are quietly limiting your game. With my IPTPA certification, tournament racquetball background, and 15+ years of corporate training experience, I know how to communicate in ways that help you truly understand and grow.

Most players spend years battling the same weaknesses. You’ll correct yours in a single afternoon.

That forehand that used to sail long? Now landing deep with topspin.

The backhand you avoided? Now a dependable go-to shot.

The serve that made you nervous? Now setting up points in your favor.

You'll Reignite the Passion You Had When You First Discovered This Game

I’ll show you how good you can actually be. You’ll leave energized, confident, and already looking forward to your next time on the court.

Remember when you first fell in love with pickleball, when you couldn’t wait to play? If that feeling has been fading lately…

On 2nd May, it all comes roaring back.

Because when you experience what it feels like to play at your true potential, when you finally break through that plateau, that’s when the obsession returns.
