MEET YOUR COACH
I’m a PPR Certified Pickleball Coach, 4.5-5.0 Senior Pro level player, National Gold Medalist, and former All Pac-10 setter at Cal Berkeley, and I’ve dedicated my coaching career to one mission: helping women at the intermediate level break through their plateau, eliminate fear from their game, and fall in love with competing at their true potential, especially women in their 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, and beyond.
In mid-2021, my hairdresser invited me to come play with her group. What she didn’t know was that I had a lifetime of elite athletic experience behind me, champion-level paddle tennis competing alongside my mother, and a collegiate volleyball career as an All Pac-10 setter at Cal Berkeley. I was immediately playing at a high level and overjoyed to have found a way to compete again after years away from sport.
Within three years I was winning Gold at Nationals.
What I bring to your game:
My story: I grew up with a tennis racket in my hand, it was a constant in my life from the very beginning. I competed in paddle tennis at a champion level alongside my mother, went on to become an All Pac-10 setter at Cal Berkeley. Then life and work took over for a while, and I missed competing deeply. In mid-2021, my hairdresser changed everything. She invited me to pickleball and I was immediately hooked. The speed, the strategy, the community, it was an instant obsession. My very first tournament was the Sacramento Open Women’s 5.0 on March 6, 2024 — my birthday. We won Gold. I went on to win Gold at Nationals in San Diego, earn a Golden Ticket to Newport Beach, and place 4th overall at the Senior Open in Seattle.
But here’s what drives me as a coach: I want every woman I work with to feel the same joy and confidence on the court that I feel when competing. I believe pickleball should feel exciting and empowering, not stressful and rushed.
My approach: I love to help players feel comfortable, calm, and patient on the court. There is a tendency for intermediate players to panic, to react instead of think, and I focus on helping women realize they have far more time to choose their shots than they think. I prioritize long rallies and dinking. I use the “Mulligan” caveat for third shot drops, if it hits the net, it’s a do-over, to eliminate the fear of attempting that critical shot. I love coaching alongside players in a “Play with the Pro” dynamic, and positivity is central to everything I do.
I bring National Gold Medal competitive credentials, All Pac-10 athletic pedigree, PPR certification, and a coaching philosophy built entirely around joy, patience, and eliminating fear from the game.
But here’s what I’m MOST focused on: Purposeful, confidence-building drilling.
Not overwhelming drilling, but strategically designed drilling that builds patience, consistency, and tactical decision-making simultaneously. The kind where you hit balls repeatedly with a national champion watching and correcting every rep. The kind that replaces panic with clarity, and shows up immediately in your next match.
I don’t waste time talking. We drill. You improve. You feel it immediately.
On May 23rd, I’m bringing this joy-first, championship-tested coaching to intermediate women players ready to break through in Folsom.

Most intermediate camps still have women playing from a place of panic and reaction.
I’m different.
Here’s my philosophy: Drilling = Transformation
You don’t get better by reacting faster. You get better by understanding you have more time than you think, and training that understanding into your body through purposeful, patient drilling with a national champion watching and correcting every rep.
And here’s the truth about why I’m obsessed with drilling for intermediate women:
Because let’s be honest — we all love that moment when we stop panicking and start actually playing, don’t we?
That moment when you slow down, read the ball, and your drop lands perfectly, instead of sailing into the net.
That rush when your dink rally just keeps going, and you’re the one controlling it.
That feeling when your opponent attacks and you reset it calmly like you’ve done it a thousand times.
You don’t have to wait weeks to feel that shift. You feel it immediately. Right there on the court.
That’s why drilling is the heartbeat of my intermediate women’s camps. Not because I think it’s good for you (though it is), but because there is nothing like the feeling of playing with calm confidence, and watching your opponents try to figure out what happened to you.
See why 98% of our campers recommend this camp.
Hi, I’m Heidi, and I live near Dallas, Texas. I just did the Obsessed Pickballer Camp with Laura Fenton, and let me tell you, it was amazing. I’ve done so many camps, and she covered so much in four hours, and I can already see the improvement in my game. I highly recommend it. She’s amazing, and you will love it.

Hi, I’m Mary. I live in Frisco, Texas, and I just attended the Obsessed Pickleballer with Laura Fenton. It was fantastic.
She is quite the educator. I love the way that she got to know our names. I also love the biometrics and how everything fits together, muscle exercises that she gave to us, and all the pickleball.
– Mary
On attending Laura Fenton’s camp:
It was very good, I learned a lot. Footwork. Footwork is the best. If you’re not doing footwork, you’re not getting the ball.
– Camp Attendee
You know that moment when you replay the match in your head…
…thinking about the shot you panicked on instead of staying calm?
…watching players you know you should beat walk away with the win?
…feeling that gap between the player you are and the player you know you could be?
That feeling ends on May 23rd.
Because by the time you walk off the court at 4:00 PM, something fundamental will have changed. You’ll read the game differently. Your body will respond with patience instead of panic. And the next time you play, your regular partners will immediately notice something has shifted.
You walk onto your regular pickleball court for your weekly game.
As soon as you start warming up, your playing partners stop and stare.
“What happened to you?”
Your third shot drops are landing consistently, because you’re no longer afraid to try them. At the kitchen line, you’re extending rallies with patience and control that rattles your opponents. When they attack, you reset calmly instead of panicking. You’re making decisions instead of reactions.
By the third game, they’re asking what you did. By the fifth game, they’re asking where you learned it. By the time you leave, they’re asking if you can teach them.
That’s the difference between who you are right now and who you’ll be after the camp.
And it all starts the moment you register, because the transformation begins before you even arrive.
I’ll teach you how to control rallies through patience, intelligent positioning, and shot selection, not power and panic. You’ll start winning more points while using less energy.
Soon after camp, your opponents will be working twice as hard for half the results. While they’re scrambling, you’ll be composed and ready for the next point. This is especially important for us 40+ women players: you’ll learn to play smarter, not harder, which means you can play multiple times a week without wearing yourself out or risking injury.
I’ll connect you with other passionate women at your exact skill level. You’ll exchange numbers, join the Obsessed Pickleballers Community together, and stay permanently connected with every woman you meet.
No one gets left behind. Whether you’re naturally social or more reserved, you’ll be welcomed and connected through our community platform.
After camp, the group chat starts buzzing with game invites and practice sessions. By next month, you’ll have a regular crew of women who understand your goals, your schedule, and your commitment to improvement.
I’ll eliminate the panic that’s been costing you points. You have more time than you think, and after this camp, your body will know it. Should you drive or drop? You’re reading it. When do you move to the kitchen? You’re already moving. How do you handle the attack? You’re resetting calmly before you finish thinking about it.
When you step into matches the following week, your opponents will watch you differently. They’ll see a woman who plays with patience and certainty, someone who is always one step ahead.
I’ll help you identify the specific issues that are currently limiting your game. When I show you exactly how to fix them — with the precision of a PPR Certified national gold medalist and All Pac-10 Cal Berkeley athlete — the shots that used to frustrate you suddenly become your strengths.
Most women at your level spend years fighting the same weaknesses. You’ll correct yours in a single afternoon.
I’ll show you how good you can actually be. You’ll leave energized, excited, and already planning your next time on the court.
Remember when you first fell in love with pickleball? When you couldn’t wait to play? If that feeling has been fading lately…
On May 23rd, it comes roaring back.
Because when you experience what it feels like to play with calm confidence, when the panic disappears and the real game emerges, that’s when the obsession returns.
